An area rich of incomparable tourist routes: from Metaponto with its wonderful sea, the unspoilt nature and the rich historical evidence of the Greek culture, to Matera with its “Sassi” (stones), the old districts dug into the calcareous stone and to admire its charm to the full, you should follow the itineraries on foot on the inside. 

Don’t miss a tour to the ruins of the old town of Grumentum dating back to the third century B.C. and to the Pollino and Val D’Agri protected National parks.

Regional food and wines are also special. They are made up by simple and natural products: in the Lucania area the basket of the deliciousness is rich of every kind of product, to satisfy every taste, especially the simple ones like the genuineness and products made according to old traditions.. 

Suffice it to think of the fruit of Metaponto which is exported to domestic and foreign markets, of the pecorino from Filiano Dop or of the Canestrato from Moliterno, of the mushrooms and the truffle in the forest of Pollino, of the wines from Vulture, of the extra-virgin olive oil which is a basic product in the Lucania cooking, of the typical bread from Matera, of the sausage produced above all in the inner areas of the region. 

A land where nature is protected with the creation of protected areas: here flamingos, herons, blackwinged stilts, spoonbills and many other species of sedentary and migrant birds live and pass.
